FUN FACTS ABOUT TERESA J TISSERAT

THE BASICS

  •     I was born on July 20th.
  •     I was raised in a very, very, small town - Deer Trail, Colorado.
  •     My Parents names are Christina and Peter.
  •     I have an older brother, Trevor, and a younger sister, Tia.
  •     You might know me as "Traci."
  •     My dogs name is "Shagwell." He is a Border Collie/Australian German Shepard Mix.
  •     My family also has the following pets: a Crazy Aussie Dingo - "Kona," an Affenpinscher "Harry," two cats: "Curious George" & "Dust Buster," and a Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua, "Itsy." We used to have two toy poodles - "Albert," and "Taz," but they are our angels now. RIP Little Guys. Oh yeah, sometimes we have cows too!

I NEVER WANT TO GROW UP
  •     My favorite childhood toy was My Little Pony.
  •     When "playing school" with my sister and our baby dolls, I always taught "Art Class."
  •     I was a ballerina, and loved jazz tap.  I danced for 8 years. In fact, I used to tell my mom, "Ballerina's don't play basketball."
  •     I then joined "Little Dribblers."
  •     I loved hanging out and playing sports with my brother and his friends.
  •     I went through stage where I liked wearing wrangler jeans and cowboy boots.
  •     I went through a North Carolina vs. Duke stage.
  •     I also went through a stage where liked wearing baggie jeans and baby tees.
  •     I wore braces for 6 years. I still hate my teeth!


HIGH SCHOOL DAYS
  •     My graduating class had only 9 kids.
  •     I played volleyball, basketball, track, cheerleading, and even baseball.
  •     I was Varsity Basketball Captain for 2 years, and Varsity Volleyball Captain for 1 year.
  •     I was Homecoming Queen.
  •     I was part of the Student Government, as well as a member of the National Honor Society.
  •     I coached the Middle School girls volleyball, basketball, and track teams. I also coached a "Little Dribblers" team each basketball season.
  •     I was on the Colorado Academic All-State, All-District Basketball, and Junior Nationals All-State Basketball teams. I was an alternate for the Colorado All-State Basketball Tournament, and part of the Colorado Summit basketball team that played in Australia.
    - I was also was invited to play on a basketball team in France and Italy for a summer, as well as a tournament recruiting tournament in Atlanta, Georgia; however, Australia was more appealing!
  •     Channel 4 News recognized my basketball team for having the highest cumulative team GPA in the State of Colorado.
  •     My team went to the state (top 8) basketball tournament 2 times, Regional (Top 16) the other 2 years, and I went to the State Track Meet 1 time.
  •     I was on the Colorado High School Stock Market Team, and was the champion.
  •     I represented my town at the Colorado Columbine Girls State program.
  •     I represented my high school as a Delegate for the Lt. Governor's Conference for Education @ the University of Denver.
  •     I was part of the Drama/Theater and Art clubs, and occasionally participated in the HS Band.
  •     In my free time, I enjoyed ditching class for cappuccino, playing car tag, and sticking paintbrushes up my nose.

COLLEGE DAZE
  •     I Graduated from the University of Denver with my Bachelor of Arts Degree on June 4, 2005.
  •     I double majored in Studio Art and Psychology.
  •     I graduated with honors in Studio Art and the Rho Lambda Honor Society.
  •     I was a member of the Rho Lambda Honor Society.
                   - Philanthropy Chair
  •      I was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
  •               - Social Chair, Assistant Recruitment Chair, and Historian
  •      I was one of the founding members of the DU Women's Club Basketball Team.
  •               - Co-President
  •     I was a member of the DU Pioneer Patrol Cheerleading Squad.
  •     I loved playing intramural sports, such as dodgeball and broomball.
  •     I volunteered as a child advocate for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
  •     I volunteered as a studio assistant for Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA).
  •     I was on the executive committee for the Celebration of Educational Excellence for the Colorado Department of Human Services.
  •     I worked for the DU psychology lab (Project STAR) and the DU School of Art and Art History.
  •     My artwork was in the 023 Gallery.
  •     In my free time, I enjoyed ditching class for beer, playing quarters, and snowboarding.

SINCE COLLEGE ENDED...
  • I have traveled to a few countries: South Africa, Ghana, Germany, Mexico )
  • I have had several Art shows in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Manitou Springs, Colorado; Dallas, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Atlanta, Georgia.
  • I don't paint as much as I used to, but would love to do it full time.

OTHER STUFF...
  •     I truly do not have a favorite color.
  •     I am scared of toilets, spiders, hospitals, and propane tanks.
  •     I am not musically inclined.
  •     I have a quote book of random things my friends and I have said.
  •     I have been in several car wrecks.
  •     I love the rain.
  •     I'm dating my high school sweetheart, who is an amazing musician: Matthew Taylor
  •     I worked as an art consultant for three years, and do some art consulting on the side - where I work hand in hand with architects and interior designers to choose and design artwork for Hospitals, Hotels, Restaurants, etc. I also do residential art consulting!
  •     I am a partner/owner of a handbag company called "TraSh Bagz"
  •     I find Art Therapy fascinating, and would love to continue my education in that direction.
  •     I would love to have a National Touring Art Show benefiting nonprofits across the country.
  •     I would love to head a nonprofit Art Organization.
  •     I want to travel the world while attending different artist residency programs.
  •     I helped found the Jr. Board for CASA, "The Young Philanthropist Project, (YPP)" a group of young professionals who host fundraisers and informational events to support CASA - Advocates for Children. I held the position of Director of Events for 3 years, where I helped establish 4 signature/annual events, as well as created their logo.
  •     I am on the Young Arrupe Philanthropist Board - where I hold the position of Marketing/PR Chair.
  •     In the past I volunteered on the Denver Art Society Event Board - where I held the position of Executive Director/Director of Events.
  • I am on the Denver Young Nonprofit Professionals Network Board, and sit on the fundraising committee.
  •     I currently work at CASA - Advocates for Children as a Case Coordinator for Arapahoe county, where I supervise volunteers on dependency and neglect cases within the 18th Judicial District.
  •     I love volunteering. Obviously.
